Age of wonders 3 specializations4/27/2023 Partisan also gives your musketeers a great "commando" feel. While I think this isn't efficient or useful in the slightest (explorer especially is horrible on dread) I like the idea of my dreadnought having no magical abilities. Ignoring game mechanics sometimes when I'm in the mood to pick purely for flavour I'll roll dread with expander, explorer and partisan. It's also worth noting that dreadnought has no summoned combat units, so picking up a summon spell from an elemental or alignment discipline will not only give you a way of dumping spare mana into troops but allow you to diversify your damage types depending on your pick. Other specialisations I'd consider are adept of earth for stone skin golems, though this isn't really unique to dreadnought as you could say this about any race/class with a unit with defender or tireless. Now that I think about it giving griffon riders pistols could be really fun, so maybe I should give an elven dreadnought a crack. Even more so if you line up a great AoE shot. Seeker is so powerful on muskets and even better on cannons. While there are probably better dreadnought races that elves in my opinion, the main thing to remember with dreadnoughts is adept of air. Is it the way most of the units get Improved Wall Climbing? The nasty combo of Cruel Backstab with Flyers?Ĭome to think about it there'll probably be a lot of questions over why certain rankings are the way they are, so it might be a good idea to link to some of the discussion on the boards. Question, though - why are Draconians top-rated for Rogue? I've actually never tried Draconian Rogue so I'm curious what I'm missing out on. More just pointing out the funny way that some combos can have a really powerful option, but lack the staying power to be good all around. Not a criticism of your list, which I think is rather good. Elven Rogues are the ones that came to mind for me - Elven Bard spam is notoriously deadly (or at least were, back when I played MP regularly) but apart from that, the combo really hasn't much else to offer. The thing I find funny about that list is that a lot of really powerful combos get low ranked because they're really the only thing the race/class mix has going for it. Sorry for the barebones nature of this I wanted to try a high-elf dreadnought but found myself unable to think of a particular way to build it. To be honest I have no idea with high-elves because I have not played them enough to get a firm understanding of their spec synergy. Are there any other particular useful specializations for dreadnought? Do they go well with fire because of the strong single target damage or is flash bomb good enough that aspects of fire is not necessary? My (admittedly limited) understanding of the Dreadnought specializations seem to indicate that expander is a benefit to dreadnoughts because of their mutual goals of expanding and taking up resources. In order to understand this system better I am going to post a race/class combo that I would like to try in order to analyze what sort of specs are good fits with it. At best I understand that Tigran goes well with explorer because cheetahs = good irregulars. The Warlord Class can be mixed with any of the six races and can be further augmented using specializations with will provide the class with additional magical skills.Īge of Wonders 3 is now available for pre-order on Steam and GoG and will be released digitally worldwide on March 31 and through European retail on PC.I have found myself at a loss for trying to understand the intricacies of the Specialization race/class system. All units produced in your cities gain gold medals as well. Global Assault - All your units gain Charge, First Strike, and are promoted to the gold medal rank. Tireless units don't spend action points for attacks of opportunity or retaliation. Relentless Army - Bestows all friendly units with Tireless. In addition, the caster's units require less upkeep cost outside of their Empire's domain. Conqueror’s Feast - The 'Enemy in domain' and 'Enemy at the gates' morale penalties are twice as effective against the caster's enemies.Steadfast Ward – Steadfast prevents a unit's health from dropping below 1 hitpoint for a limited amount of time.Killing Spree – Target friendly unit gains additional movement and action points upon killing an enemy unit in combat.I mean, who wouldn't want to rid a manticore into battle? Warlord Class Units include Mounted Archers, Monster Hunters, Warbreeds and the rather awesome sounding Manticore Rider. To see this content please enable targeting cookies.
